Abstract
MRI is highly sensitive in the detection of white matter lesions. MRI pattern recognition facilitates the diagnostic process and reduces the list of necessary laboratory tests and the consequent burden for patients and families, and provides important scientific information. The classification of many disorders is likely to change as we gain knowledge and experience. Nonetheless, this approach will allow the reader to get close to the diagnosis in many cases.
