Special Articles 5. Optimization of the computed radiography to a child
Abstract Since CR systems were introduced in 1983, digitalization of radiography has accelerated. In the case of infants and newborns, X-ray examination is practiced for many reasons, and the management of X-ray exposure is becoming very important. In a general CR system, X-ray images are stored and read from just one side of the imaging plate. On the other hand, in CR with dual-side reading technology, the X-ray image is stored and read from both sides of the imaging plate. Therefore the Signal to Noise Ratio(S/N)is improved, and a study has been carried out to analyze the possibility of decreasing the necessary X-ray exposure. In a study to compare the Contrast Noise Ratio(CNR), the dual-side CR proved to realize 30% higher CNR than the single-side CR. Keywords:Computed radiography, Dose control, Contrast noise ratio |
